Graduation Project
Creation of the visual identity of a cultural center including a library, a toy library, a cyber-base and a youth center.
My production revolves around the contrast of the function of the place. Former industrial site it has become a cultural place and keeps visible vestiges of its former function. I chose to highlight this duality in the visual identity and to make this strong feature a way of differentiation and recognition of the cultural center.
I opted for a modular identity sign that adapt for different media. It raise the versatility of the site that is modulated according to needs. This aspect is reminiscent of mechanics. The principle of the letters which are articulated on a geometric structure imitates the industrial production constituted of a set of machines. However, the name is written in ink which counter the industrial coldness and brings the randomness and the sensitivity, qualities proper to the Humain. Indeed, it is the human who creates culture. Moreover the human presence is a major asset of the place, it is what makes its interest in the era of digital and e-commerce website. Also, the ink allow to represent the paper, which reminds the old function of the site:
the manufacture of paper.
